Bring on the Surprises
Life is full of surprises, one of mine has been that as I started off thinking I'd only write about wine from far off and non-traditional places. But as time goes on I find myself also writing about wine from traditional places near where I live. I think there's room for both on my blog, but this post is devoted to jumping back on the "Virtual Road Trip" I started a few years ago here.
I've written briefly about Wollersheim Winery in Wisconsin, but recently I got the chance to try two wines from Michigan. The first was a 2014 Late Harvest Riesling from Chateau Grand Traverse. It was filled with wonderful notes of peach and honey. My husband who is not much of a wine drinker loved it so much he asked for a second glass (this almost never happens). The 2014 vintage is no longer available, but the 2016 vintage can be found here. I also was able to try Lemon Creek's 2013 Malbec. The nose had wood notes, but the taste was all plum.
Any other wine or wineries from the Great Lakes State I should try?
